Just out of the lab... an experimental piece-- with a spirit level as the focal element-- and the bubble really moves! Stainless steel watch gears, metal beads and sparkling Herkimer diamonds were elaborately woven in layers over an upcycled watch movement with solid, Sterling silver wire. The wire was then oxidized, hand-polished to an aged finish. This pendant measures 46x48x29mm (1.8" x 1.9" x 1.1"), and comes suspended on your choice of chain. The pendant also fluoresces under UV light (photographed at 365nm UV), as shown in the second photo.
Herkimer diamonds are double-terminated (pointy at both ends) quartz crystal found in exposed outcrops of dolostone in and around Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley. While such double-terminated crystals may also be found in other parts of the world, crystals originating in New York are known for their extreme clarity.
