This gorgeous, handcrafted pendant was made with a colorful titanium quartz druzy set in solid Sterling silver wire, woven by-hand to cascade around the edges. Silver loops and Sterling silver beads wash about the base of the pendant while two Herkimer diamonds, set between Sterling silver bead caps add to the richness of the stone. The wire was oxidized naturally with egg yolk to bring out the texture and intricacy of the wire-work. Finally, the entire silver surface was coated with a layer of clear lacquer to preserve the aged finish of the piece and resist tarnish. The piece is available with your choice of chain and measures 56x43x26mm (2.2" x 1.7" x 1.0"). This is a one-of-a-kind item and there won't ever be another like it!
Quartz crystals may be enhanced by a process called chemical vapor disposition (CVD), in which the crystals are exposed, in a vacuum chamber, to a titanium-containing gas which bonds to the surface of the mineral and yields vivid, prismatic colors, as shown in this pendant.
Herkimer diamonds are double-terminated (pointy at both ends) quartz crystal found in exposed outcrops of dolostone in and around Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley. While such double-terminated crystals may also be found in other parts of the world, crystals originating in New York are known for their extreme clarity.
This piece comes in a luxurious, black velvet jeweler's box, contained in a cardboard outer shell (so you can wrap the box without damaging the velvet); perfect for gift-giving. This is an heirloom-quality piece you can treasure for many years to come. This ships fully-insured and with international tracking, for your convenience and peace of mind.
*Coins are shown for scale and will not be included with the jewelry.
**Comes with a signed certificate of authenticity, filled in & signed by the artist; photo of the piece & materials are listed on the reverse side of the card.
